CANTON & CARTHAGE RR began as a timber company line and served
the Denkmann Lumber Co. in later years. The C & C crossed the Pearl
River at Ratliff's Ferry and ran to Carthage and Pelahatchie.
FIRST - C & C Engine No. 2, wheel alignment 4-6-0, pulled freight trains
between 1940 and 1955.
SECOND - Old No. 98 now runs on an excursion line on the Wilmington &
Western in Delaware. It once operated on the Miss. Central, the
east-west line headquartered at Hattiesburg.
